WHAT IS A SETUP?

A setup is where you adjust the instrument so that it plays correctly and comfortably. This involves accurate measurements of the action (string height), relief (bend in the neck), nut height and bridge radius.

Having these set correctly will help your instrument play and feel better.

DO I NEED MY GUITAR SETUP?

If your strings are high and uncomfortable to play, or your guitar is in tune one area of the neck but not another then you could do with a half service.

If you've got further issues like chocking out when you bend strings or you've got the action where you want it but certain notes won't play, then this could be an indicator for an full service.

WHAT IS YOUR TURN AROUND TIME?

Being a keen player myself I understand how it can be without your guitar. I aim to get your guitar done within 5-7 days. Although sometimes this can be quicker if the setup is simple. It can also be longer depending on how many other instruments I have in at that time.

WHAT IS A FRET LEVEL?

Fret levelling is a process where you take the strings off, straighten the neck and stone the frets flat so that they are all completely level. Then re-crown the profile of the frets and bring them back to a shiny finish. This allows for nice action and very smooth frets and feel.

CAN I WAIT WHILE YOU SET MY GUITAR UP?

It's probably best not to. A normal standard setup can take around 2-3hrs and a full advanced 6-7hrs. If the truss rod has been adjusted its best to leave the guitar 24hrs and check again too. Plus there's a high chance I'll be working on others that came in before yours.

SHOULD I BRING ANYTHING OTHER THAN MY GUITAR WITH ME?

Yes, could you bring a bag/case to protect your precious instrument? I cannot undergo any work on an instrument without having somewhere safe to store it. Also, if possible, please bring a fresh pack of strings. Failing that, I can order some for you when you drop it round and add it to the price of the setup.
